How to Become a Fashion Blogger

Nowadays, more and more girls and women of all ages are going online for their fashion and beauty tips. This is of little surprise really, as online makeup tutorials and fashion guides offer the perfect blend of convenience and relevancy, with the huge choice of fashion and beauty bloggers meaning that any girl can find the right style guru for them.

Due to this new online age of fashion and beauty, more and more people are also deciding to become bloggers themselves and share their beauty and fashion tips and tricks with others. If you are considering doing this yourself, here is a quick guide on how to become a successful fashion blogger.

Firstly, get to know you own style and what you want to share with your audience. You may, for example, love budget high street fashion, and want to share with your audience how to get the best pieces for very little money. You could therefore make your blog or YouTube channel about this.

On the other hand, you may prefer more upmarket products and therefore want to center your tips and advice around finding these. You could, for example, find the best key designer pieces to buy for a reasonable price, helping your fans find the perfect pieces and investment of their money.

The next thing to bear in mind when building your online following is just how you are going to communicate with your audience. Some people are naturally very chatty, and prefer to make videos showing off their fashion hauls or doing makeup tutorials. Other people prefer to write or take photographs, and are therefore better suited to a blog or Instagram.

It is worth bearing in mind that fashion and beauty are very visual fields, and therefore Instagram and YouTube are two of the best social networks to start sharing your content on and building an audience. Indeed, these platforms are where a great deal of famous fashion and beauty bloggers started off.

The next piece of advice is to make sure that you take care to chat with your audience as much as possible and build a strong relationship with them. This is one reason why all kinds of YouTubers are so successful, and that is because they are making a real connection with their audience every time they speak directly to them on a YouTube channel.

Otherwise, be sure to chat with your audience in the comments section of your blog and on other social media platforms. Take the time to listen to their requests and also to answer any questions they may have. This will help you build up a sold relationship with your followers and encourage more people to follow you.

A word of warning, however: it can be easy to spread yourself too thin when trying to become a successful fashion blogger. Due to the fact there are so many social networks out there, it is easy to lose focus on the type of audience you are catering to. Instead, focus on building your audience on just two social platforms before you try to build an audience elsewhere.

Our last piece of advice for those who are wondering how to become a successful fashion and beauty blogger is that it is important not too expect too much to quickly, and remember that persistence is key. Apart from a lucky few, many bloggers take years before they get famous, so you must be consistent in your efforts in order to see results long term.

These are just a few tips on how to become and successful fashion blogger. The first step is to determine what you want to share and who you want to share it with, and then you must put in the effort to build up your audience and be consistent with the quality of your content over the long term.

How to Build a Successful Blog For Affiliate Marketing

In every successful Internet Marketer, there is always a successful blog helping him in all his affiliate marketing promotions as well as be that perfect tool he uses to communicate with his prospects and other visitors. However building a successful blog is not as easy as just setting it up and putting up lots of content.

Here is what you need to do to make your blog successful:

1. The Look and Feel
How your blog looks to your visitor is important. As the saying goes “first impressions last”, so always remember that it’s the design of your blog that greets your visitor first, not your contents on it. Your blog should have a certain style that is appealing to many people. What style you choose is based on individual taste and liking and there is nothing cast in stone. However you should consider what is your target audience or the demographics of your visitors. That will help determine what type of style and design most suited for them.

2. Your Content
After you wow your visitors with a nice design or unique style, you should next have killer content on your blog. Do not publish posts that do not serve a purpose or direction. Instead write interesting posts with information that you know your visitors love and will want to come back for more. You don’t have to be a SEO guru to know that the more content you post on your blog, the more traffic you will receive. More postings also increase the chances of people who are searching for the same topic finding it on your blog. If you have already established your affiliate marketing business, this increased exposure can only lead to a very successful blog and a profitable online business.

Fashion Blogger Report – Angelica Blick

There is no doubt I have a secret girl crush on Angelica. Ever since I discovered her blog I have been spending hours poring over her photos. Like many of her peers, she has been blogging since back in 2009. I have read through her blog extensively, page by page, and her material is not just addictive, but refreshingly different and stands out from a lot of other fashion bloggers out there. I would say she has a ‘no nonsense’ way of dressing; a combination of sporty, minimalist and bohemian style all with an alluring edge. Even though her style is varied, when it is all pulled together it really works as a collective.

Angelica has won award after award over the past year, and I would say she is one of the top five fashion bloggers in Sweden at the moment. Again and again she delivers strong photography, with breath taking styling; her glittering awards are certainly well deserved. The amount of hard work that is involved is certainly beyond me. Working in fashion myself, and constantly being involved in photo shoots, I am always amazed and perplexed as to how some of these bloggers can produce magazine quality photos, with very little budget, on a daily basis. Better still, they manage to look effortlessly cool and are often under the age of 25, I am certainly dumbfounded! Quite often, I think when we are reading a good blog, we simply admire the ‘nice pictures’ and often forget the amount of hard work that is actually involved.

I also like the fact that Angelica’s not afraid to show her vulnerable side, like expressing when she is going through hard times etc. Many famous fashion bloggers, who see their blog as a business, would not so openly admit their personal issues. I think this makes her blog far more endearing as you really feel you are getting to know Angelica and can build a connection. Angelica recently expressed on her blog that, ‘I have over the years ignored completely if someone thought I dressed ugly / weird / different and it’s something that made me stronger and more confident in myself.’

So in essence bloggers have to be themselves and express their style through their blog. This must be a daunting prospect as there’s no telling as to how other people will react to your thoughts and opinions. Before the internet it was particularly hard for anyone’s voice to be heard or creativity expressed. However through social media, like Facebook, Twitter and blogs it is far easier to communicate with others and build networks of friends and even fans.

Self expression has become the norm, but not forgetting that for the majority of us it would take guts and bravado to come out with a personal signature style. For those who dare, like Angelica, will succeed! I am definitely going to be keeping a close watch on this lovely lady from Sweden, and would not be at all surprised if we see her conquering the fashion world very soon.

Getting Your Blog Style Right

Take a look at your blog. Take one cold, hard look. Notice how it makes you feel. How would you describe your blog- the caress of a woman on a warm Cuban night or a cold shot of vodka out in the wilderness? This is actually a good thing to do, because your viewers’ emotional response to the look of your blog will decide if they stay and read the content. You can have the best content in the world, but you will be putting your blog at a huge disadvantage if it doesn’t look the part.

People are visual creatures, especially on the internet. They will often judge a website within a few seconds. What happens in those few seconds? Do they read everything on the page and take the time to evaluate what you are saying? No, they only have a few seconds, so they can’t give your content much thought at all. They glance across the page and judge how it looks. Is it spammy? Does it look amateur? Presentation is everything in capturing your readers attention. Some people think this means impressing your readers. They install crazy graphics. They make the page more complicated than it needs to be. This is not so sexy for your blog. This is the horny teenager of the blog world. You are better than that.

Internet gurus may call it different names, but essentially it’s about making your blog as appealing as possible. You have to make your blog sexy so that readers stay around and see what it’s got going for it. Seduce the eyes, and they’ll let you seduce their minds. While all this sexy-talk is very good, that doesn’t mean you should have naked women all over your blog. Sexy is about a cool design and a layout that’s easy to use. Check out some blogs you like and take the time to notice their features. You may find that blogs have a very similar layout. Even the advertising is in the same place. There is something to be said for doing what the best do, because if you try and create a completely unique blog, you’ll end up confusing readers.

Making your blog sexy is an art. You have to keep some features so your readers don’t feel lost, but give them a new twist so that your blog looks unique. Look up blog design competitions and see what they come up with. You can get ideas from them and use them to improve your own blog. Avoid using stupid colors. You should remember that your readers will eventually have to read your blog, so if your color scheme hurts their eyes, they’re not going to stick around for long no matter how great your content is.

Some people have the budget for really great flash animations on their blog, but I would recommend avoiding that. Having anything moving on your blog is distracting, and while it may get the readers’ attention it will end up really annoying them after a while. There are some fundamental things you have to address before you go pimping your blog. It has to be easy to read, and it has to be easy to use. As long as you don’t stray too far from that, you should be in clean water. Get your blog looking sexy and it will help you a long way, as long as you don’t confuse your people. Give your people what they want. Give them a sexy blog. Now go and sex your people.

What Are the Best Style Blogs?

The best style blogs are first and foremost the ones that have a message to communicate or a problem to solve and do it by providing great content. Before you get overly concerned with the look of your blog you need to understand that the main reason people visit blogs is to gain access to quality content. Some of the most highly visited blogs I have found have used standard format templates and just got on with the business of communicating with their target audience.

Its also worth noting that search engines can’t tell the difference between a highly polished, all singing and all dancing blog any more than they can a bog standard off the shelf template that comes as your starter for ten. Search engines look primarily at text and relate that text to enquiries entered into their search boxes. Also as things stand at the moment, many of the tools that provide a wow factor for a blog in terms of visual presentation are pretty much impenetrable to the search engines, and can easily leave them flaying about in the dark when it comes to trying to interpret the content of a blog.

So to get traffic coming to your blog, these are the first priorities:

Create great content
Identify the keywords that will bring the content to the attention of the target audience
Utilise a design that is search engine friendly with plenty of text

Once you have achieved that, you can then move on to what is going to keep your audience on your blog and get them returning time and again for more of that great content. This is where two more aspects kick in:

Blog functionality

Functionality relates firstly to how easy it is to navigate your blog to find information and secondly to actual physical functionality. In other words what is the level of satisfaction your visitors will get when they arrive on your blog in terms of a good user experience through the user interface. Does everything work, especially links to other parts of the blog or external references. People may forgive you for a video that repeatedly buffers up, because to an extent you are subject to speed of their machine and the bandwidth they have available. But put in features, that you are entirely responsible for, that don’t work and you will be on a slippery slope to oblivion. So you need to take care of these details, there is software available for example that can detect and flag broken links. Just type in ‘broken links checker’ in the plugin search box for a whole list of options.

Best Style for Blogs

OK its taken a little while to get to what you came here for and this topic is a little subjective so consequently requires a little bit of experimentation on your part to find out what works and what doesn’t.

Clearly a good starting point are the top blogs for a particular topic, for example if you are writing about blogging then a clear example of how to do it is the way ‘Problogger’ has configured and styled his blog. A nice clean looking blog with a white background and a simple logo that everyone can identify with. Interesting that everywhere you find Problogger’s presence the theme has been followed and this is because it is now a recognised brand and is immediately associated to his work whenever a visitor sees it.

There are lessons to take from this, it is often a case that ‘less is more’ to coin a phrase. Over complicating a design style can often turn people off, they get overawed by a site that is too busy and may struggle to see how they can use the site from a navigation viewpoint or may be presented with so much information at once that they decide it isn’t worth the effort.

Better then to keep the design relatively simple and lead people gently into their topic of choice. Put the emphasis instead into subtle colour schemes that contrast well and compliment one another. Select font that is easy to read and large enough to ensure your visitors don’t have to squint to see it. Use grid patterns to organise information into clearly defined sectors, doesn’t mean you can’t be imaginative, but does help visitors take in the information and follow your blog theme. It is also a good idea to try and establish a brand by utilising a clearly recognisable logo, look or phrase.

It can actually be more difficult to keep things simple than it is to get over complicated.

You may be wondering why the title of the post was discussed last. The reason that the ‘best style blogs’ aspect was discussed at the latter part of this article is because that is really where it fits in the overall scheme of things. So as was stated at the beginning of this post, don’t get overly concerned with the look of your blog too soon, working on content and directing traffic to your blog needs to take precedence. You can have the most beautiful blog in the world, but that’s not much use if you are the only one that ever sees it.

As an aid to understanding the costs of publishing a blog or website and doing online promotion of any product or service you should consider securing yourself a copy of this website design guide. This is a concise and jargon free introduction to the world of online publishing and marketing available in Kindle format on Amazon.
